A prime example of a successful fishing island, Gemanafushi hosts some of the largest fishing vessels in the Maldives. Also know as the “Island of Hospitality”, this idyllic place depends on local tourism and pole-and-line Tuna fishing to generate income. Locals are known to cook, dry and prepare “Rihaakuru” (tuna paste) and other fish products.
The island features three beautiful stretches of sand: Zero Beach, Maareha View Beach and Sunrise Beach. Furthermore, Gemanafushi Corner, a channel that connects the atoll to the open ocean, is one of the best diving spots in the whole area.
